At Blue Jay our focus is to provide World Wide Entertainment Consulting - including Song Writing, Production, Screen Writing, Directing, and more for All Artist. We also provide coaching for public speaking, executive presentations and others seeking to enhance their communication skills with life-time Voice, Drama and Theater Skills. Blue Jay Entertainment also provides Entertainment Resources such as Music Downloads to the general public.
About the Founder
Mr. Jay C. Burns, a Detroit Composer, Actor, and Playwrite has performed in the U.S., Canada and abroad. In 1977 Jay Burns represented Canada as a musical artist at the African World Festival before 97 musical delegates with an audience of approximately one million people in Lagos Nigeria. His accomplishments have also been documented in the book, “Go Do Some Great Thing: Black Pioneers of British Columbia” by Canadian author Crawford Killan. This book is currently on shelf at the Detroit Public Library and numerous libraries throughout the U.S. and Canada. Jay Burns is also the founder of several Music Theaters including the “Free Black Creative Arts Theater” in Vancouver British Columbia, “The Nadra’s People School of Fine Arts” in Detroit. In 1985 Mr. Burns was the assistant producer with Joe Morocco at University of Detroit Mercy College, in the Musical Play “Vino”. In 1989 Jay also Produced, Directed and Performed the original Music “Sounds By The River”.
In 1986 his first poetry book titled “Reflections of Love From Then to Now” was released and reprinted in 1992. The book “Reflections of Love From Then to Now” is presently at Lincoln University where it is used as reference material for students in composition and creative writing classes at Lane College in Jackson Tennessee and has been nominated for use in the English/Communication Dept at Langston University in Oklahoma, this book is also being considered for classroom use at Wilberforce University Ohio. “Reflections of Love From Then to Now” is scheduled to be released again in 2008.
For the past twenty years Jay Burns has also performed in Public Schools, Libraries, Universities, Festivals, and at Cultural Events. Recent invitations and interviews include WDET Radio (Detroit), WXYZ News T.V. (Detroit), City Highlights T.V. Show, the Historical Graystone Jazz Museum, and the Ford Detroit Montreal Jazz Festival (1987). Jay also continues to perform with the Musical Band “The Blue Jays”.
Jay Burns educational accomplishments include a Conservatory Degree in Vocal Music from Douglas College in British Vancouver Columbia (Canada) in 1979, a B.A. from the University of Detroit Mercy (U.S.) in 1994, a Masters of Communications & Fine Arts from Wayne State University (U.S.) in 1998. Recent musical accomplishments include the release of a CD titled “Blue Jay In the Sky”.
In addition to being the founder of Blue Jay Entertainment Mr. Burns is also presently on the faculty at the Wayne County Community College in Detroit Michigan.
